This past year and half have been challenging for pretty much everyone. Whether you were suffering from sickness, stress, fear, anxiety or any of the other myriad emotions that accompanied this pandemic, I’d say we all deserve a collective pat on the back for making it through this experience.
And hopefully we learned something from it all… I know I did.
One of the major challenges as a musician during this period was trying to keep up your chops while there was no gigging. For me the solution was to revisit some guitar pieces that I had been working on over the past couple of years. As I started practicing these pieces again I decided I would make use of the time I was spending on them by trying to record performances of them. What started as some simple home recordings then turned in to a full fledged “project”.
I enlisted the help of the talented videographer Liana Pare from Liana The Ghost Films. Having worked together on several other videos – including Tirage Au Sort (which has now received over 11,000 views on YouTube) – I knew she would do a really nice job. And that she did!
What came out of our collaboration was a series of six videos we are calling The Cubist Sessions. They are primarily guitar performances – with a little bit of singing – of several different styles of music including Classical, Finger Style, Bossa and a few original songs. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words ( so a video must be worth at least 10,000 right? ) so I will therefore let the videos do the talking but will simply close by saying I hope they are as enjoyable to watch as they were to make.
If you enjoy the videos and would like to show your support you can make a one time contribution here. If you would like to become a sustaining contributor you can now do that here. All contributions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks and I hope you enjoy the videos (more on the way).
Update: The contest has been extended until May 21, 2021 which will be the official release of Take Two on the streaming/download platforms. Be one of 3 lucky winners by signing up here.
Take Two is an album I self-produced and released in 2013 as Take One and then decided to remove from my site and streaming services shortly after due to internal creative differences (haha). Well now it’s been re-mastered and I’m releasing it again. And you can win a free copy.
Click the button below to sign up for The Ever After mailing list before May 21, 2021 and you will be automatically entered into a contest to be one of 3 lucky people to win a free copy of the new EP and this first edition TEA shirt designed by me.
