There is something that bothers me about going to the store to buy eggs and seeing a vast array of “ethical” egg options all from the same manufacturer. They range greatly in price and some are “organic”, “free-range”, “happy” chicken eggs and some are just generic, brown box eggs where you just have to assume the chickens live in cramped squalid conditions and are treated terribly.
The fact that they all come from the same manufacturer basically means one of two things: the company just takes the same eggs and puts them in different boxes OR they make a conscious decision to treat some chickens well and others poorly because its cheaper. So you can do the “right” thing and buy the “organic “, “free-range” eggs but you are still supporting a company that treats chickens poorly. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t.
